Squarespace: Why We Use it and Why You Should, Too
When it comes to choosing a web platform, you have a lot of options–Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace, Weebly.… While having options is great, we know we’re not the only ones who struggle to make a decision, much less commit to it!
However, if there’s one thing we’re committed to here at the studio (other than creating beautiful designs and providing an awesome customer experience), it’s our web platform: Squarespace.
While many small business owners have heard about Squarespace, or perhaps even used it, there are a lot of benefits that are often overlooked.
It has built-in SEO.
What even is SEO? In short, SEO (search-engine optimization) scoots you closer to the top of the search results when a potential client Googles (or Bings, or Yahoos) the services or products you offer. We know there are very few times you ever click past the first couple pages of search results. What makes you think anyone else does? All the more reason to ensure you end up at the top! That’s where SEO comes in.
SEO can be complicated and messy, but Squarespace automatically generates and links a proper sitemap and prioritizes your metadata for indexing. It tags your links and images. It cleans up your HTML and optimizes your site for mobile browsing (which gives you a higher priority in a Google search). It automatically generates RSS feeds, and… we could go on and on.
The point is this: you don’t have to worry about anything listed above because it’s all done for you with Squarespace.
It's easy to understand and provides access to comprehensive analytics.
Have you ever wondered how people find your site? Wondered which of your posts are most popular, and which ones no one reads? Knowing the Who, What, When, Where, and Why of your site is essential to identify and taking advantage of growth opportunities.
Who is visiting your site? Are you attracting your target demographic?
What pages and posts are they looking at? What pages do they ignore?
When is your page most popular? When should you post that blog or send that email?
Where are your visitors coming from? Your Instagram bio, or Google?
Why are people visiting your website?
The awesome thing? Squarespace makes all of this information easy to tack with clean charts, tables, and easy-to-understand analytics tools.
It makes beautiful design possible (with half the DIY effort!).
Building a website can be difficult, especially if you have no knowledge of coding or design. We would encourage everyone to hire a web designer, but we also know that doing so is an investment. And while investing in professional design is totally worth it, we also understand that you might need a website right now.
Squarespace allows its users to create beautiful websites with their gorgeous, curated collection of templates. Resizing headers, footers, and sidebars; uploading pictures and logos; changing fonts and colors–all these things are made easy with Squarespace.
It has extensive eCommerce functionality.
Whether you sell services, digital products, or physical items, Squarespace has you covered. Squarespace’s online store system is an all-in-one platform that includes easy merchandise organization, sales insights, flexible payment options, and advanced security. It provides a user-friendly shopping experience for your clients so you can grow your customer base and increase your sales.
Squarespace eCommerce keeps everything together so you spend less time organizing your online store and juggling payments, and more time on improving your product or service.
It allows for simple changes and content editing.
How many times have you typed up a blog post (or an email, or an Instagram caption) and then published it, only to read it later and realize instead of writing “sitting” you wrote…
Yeah, we’ve been there. Writing is hard, and we understand how important it is to make edits quickly and easily. With Squarespace, all you need to do is click a button, make the change, and hit save, and your changes are made live!
Squarespace is truly the most user-friendly platform we’ve used. It’s organized, easy to understand, and beautiful. Not to mention it has everything you need in order to run a small business smoothly.
